Bruce E. Rittmann，美国国家工程院院士，美国国家发明家科学院院士，亚利桑那州立大学校董教授，享誉全球的环境生物技术专家。在Nature、Nat. Rev. Microbiol.、Nat. Microbiol.、Nat. Biotechnol.、Nat. Sustain.、Environ. Sci. Technol.、Water Res.等行业顶级期刊发表论文千余篇，引用逾六万次，撰写的经典教材《环境生物技术: 原理与应用》被译成9种语言，2018年荣获被誉为水环境领域“诺贝尔奖”的斯德哥尔摩水奖，2024年荣获中华人民共和国国际科学技术合作奖。

讲座摘要：

Bacteria in the hydrogen (H2)-basedMembrane Biofilm Reactor (MBfR) are able to reduce Platinum Group Metals (PGM),gold, selenium, and others to form valuable nanoparticles that are retained inthe biofilm. Recovering these metals canmake pollution abatement profitable. This presentation summarizes the MBfR andhow it works, the biochemical mechanisms and microbial ecology underlyingnanoparticle formation, and our extensive experimental results that documentsuccess in nanoparticle recovery in the MBfR.
